cerulignone Chem.|sɪəruːˈlɪgnəʊn| Also cœ-, † co-, † -on. [ad. G. cörulignon (C. Liebermann 1872, in Ber. d. Deut. Chem. Ges. V. 746), f. L. cæru-leus (also written cœruleus) dark blue + lign-um wood + quinone.] A quinone derivative, C16H16O6, which is obtained when wood-vinegar is treated with potassium dichromate and which crystallizes in small bluish-grey needles.
