† ceraunite Obs.|sɪˈrɔːnaɪt| [ad. Gr. κεραυνίτης (λίθος), f. κεραυνός thunderbolt.] ‘Thunderstone’: applied by some early mineralogists to a meteorite or to meteoric iron; by others to belemnites, and to flint arrow-heads of prehistoric times viewed as ‘thunder-bolts’.
