semifreddo, n. Brit. |ˌsɛmɪˈfreɪdəʊ|, |ˌsɛmɪˈfrɛdəʊ|, U.S. |ˌsɛmiˈfrɛdoʊ|, |ˌsɛmiˈfreɪdoʊ| Forms: 19– semi-freddo, 19– semifreddo [‹ Italian semifreddo > prefix + freddo cold (> adj.).] A type of Italian dessert made in a similar way to ice cream, but which is not fully frozen and has a lighter, aerated texture; a serving of this. Also occas. more broadly: any of various other desserts made with cream and eggs and served chilled but not frozen.
