cannoli, n. Brit. |kəˈnəʊli|, U.S. |kəˈnoʊli| Plural unchanged, -s [‹ Italian cannoli, plural of cannolo (1634) > n.1) + -olo, diminutive suffix (see -ule suffix).] With pl. concord. Pastry tubes, deep-fried and containing a sweet filling (usually sweetened ricotta, cream, or custard), originally a speciality of Sicily. Also (with sing. concord): a pastry tube of this type. The Italian singular form cannolo is rarely found in English.
