sea monkey 1. A heraldic animal which is part monkey, part fish.
1909A. C. Fox-Davies Compl. Guide Heraldry xiii. 230 It may be as well to allude to the asserted heraldic existence of the sea-monkey, though I am not aware of any instance in which it is borne. 2. A brine shrimp, Artemia salina, often used as food for fish in aquaria.
