bromocriptine, n. Pharm.|brəʊməʊˈkrɪptiːn| [f. bromo- + alteration of ergocryptine n.] A synthetic analogue of the ergot alkaloids that stimulates the dopaminergic receptors of the brain, inhibiting the release of prolactin, and is used in the treatment of Parkinsonism, galactorrhoea, hypogonadism, and other conditions; 2-brom-α-ergocryptine, C32H40N5O5Br .
