The name of Ludwig Schreiner (fl. 1900), German textile manufacturer, used attrib. with reference to a method of finishing mercerized fabrics by passing them through a calender, one of whose rollers has engraved upon it many fine, evenly-spaced, parallel lines which are impressed on to the fabric imparting lustre to the material.
