[Yiddish, app. f. shlogn to strike.] Cheap, shoddy, or defective goods; inferior material, junk, ‘trash’ (freq. applied to the arts or entertainment). Also attrib. or as adj., and Comb. in ˈschlockmeister, -master [G. meister master], a purveyor of cheap merchandise, ‘special offers’, and the like.
