As applied to a coin, the word is a mistranslation of a passage in Hemingburgh (see first quot.), where Brabantium is not a n., but an adj. agreeing with scaldingorum.] A term recently applied (in error) to a base coin of Flemish manufacture circulated in England in the 13th c.
