ˈpunchable, a. [f. punch v.1 + -able.] Capable of being punched: † spec. of coin. (Act 7 & 8 Will. & M. c. 1 for improving the coinage enacted in §9 that hammered coins at the time in circulation and not damaged by clipping should be ‘struck through..with a solid Punch’ before being passed further in circulation, as a means of preventing clipping: to this regulation the quots. refer.)
