biscotto, n. Brit. |bɪsˈkɒtəʊ|, U.S. |bɪsˈkɑdoʊ| Plural biscotti, biscottis[irreg.] Forms: 19– biscotto, 19– biscotti[irreg.] [‹ Italian biscotto (sweet) biscuit, cookie (see biscuit n.).] A long, thin, hard (usually twice-baked) biscuit, typically served with a hot drink, into which it is dipped. The Italian word biscotto denotes a variety of types of crisp biscuit, including this specific type.
