rifampicin Pharm.|rɪˈfæmpɪsɪn| [f. rifamycin with inserted pi- f. piperazine.] A reddish-brown crystalline powder, a member of the rifamycin group of antibiotics, which is used to treat a wide range of diseases, esp. pulmonary tuberculosis.
