Gr. ἄθετος without position or place + -osis.] A form of cerebral palsy, chiefly affecting children, characterized by continuous slow involuntary movements of the extremities. Hence athetoid |ˈæθɪtɔɪd|, athetotic |æθɪˈtɒtɪk| adjs., pertaining to or characteristic of athetosis.
