prothetic, a.|prəʊˈθɛtɪk| [ad. Gr. προθετικ-ός having a purpose in view, also of or for prefixing, prepositional, f. προτιθέναι to place before.] 1. Gram. Prefixed at the beginning of a word; also, less etymologically called prosthetic.
