polska|ˈpɒlskə| [Sw., f. Polsk Polish.] A Swedish folk dance of Polish origin in 3/4 time; the music which accompanies such a dance.
1883Grove Dict. Mus. III. 11/2 Polskas are usually written in minor keys. 1910C. Waern Mediæval Sicily p. xiv, In Old Sweden the gaily decked Maypole is, or was, set up on Midsummer Eve, and people dance round it..the brisk national ‘polska’ or the characteristic ‘ring dance’. 1925[see hambo]. 1947A.
