Resembling the genus Pleurotomaria of gastropod molluscs, having top-shaped shells with a deep cleft in the outer lip; found (living) in deep tropical seas, and (extinct) in many formations from the Silurian onward. b. n. A gastropod of the family Pleurotomariidæ. |
