1943Ann. Bot. VII. 269 In experiments on rates of plasmolysis or deplasmolysis one would expect to find the wall-resistance exercising an effect when sucrose is used as the plasmolyticum. 1946New Phytologist XLV. 7 The plasmolysis form taken up in any plasmolyticum, sucrose and KCl included, is much influenced by the distance of the cell from the cut edge of the strip of epidermis. 1973Cocking & Evans in H. E. Street Plant Tissue & Cell Culture v. 100 Irreversible, damaging effects on the viability of isolated protoplasts readily result from the use of plasmolytica of either too high or too low an osmotic potential. 1974A.
