plant-ˈanimal Now rare. [a. early mod.L. plantanimal, invented by Budé (Budæus, 1508 in Annot. in Pandectas) to render Gr. ζωόϕυτον. Cf. G. pflanzenthier.] 1. A zoophyte or ‘animal plant’.
