‖ placenta prævia Med.|pləˈsɛntə ˈpriːvɪə| Also placenta previa. [mod.L., f. placenta + L. prævia, fem. of prævius going before.] A placenta which partially or wholly blocks the neck of the uterus, thereby interfering with normal delivery of the baby; the condition of a placenta so positioned.
