pissasphalt|ˈpɪsæsfælt| Also in L. (or Gr.-L.) forms pissasphalton, -um, -us. [ad. L. pissasphalt-us (Plin.), a. Gr. πισσάσϕαλτος, f. πίσσα pitch + ἄσϕαλτος asphalt.] A semi-liquid variety of bitumen, mentioned by ancient writers.
