[ad. mod.L. phyllōma, f. Gr. ϕύλλωµα foliage, clothing of leaves, f. ϕυλλοῦν to clothe with leaves, f. ϕύλλον leaf. (But -ome has here rather the mod. sense of ‘formation’ as in caulome, rhizome.) So in mod.F.]
