The name of a city in northern Italy, used attrib. to designate majolica made there in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, and the potters who made it.

As early as 1486 the Pesaro ware was considered so superior to all other Italian ware, that a protection was granted to it by the lord of Pesaro. 1885[see Gubbio]. 1960R. G. Haggar Conc. Encycl.
