pericycle Bot.|ˈpɛrɪsaɪk(ə)l| [mod. (Van Tieghem, in Fr. 1882), ad. Gr. περίκυκλος all round, spherical, περικυκλοῦν to encircle.] A term applied (instead of the earlier pericambium) to the outer portion of the vascular cylinder, lying between the vascular bundles internally, and the endodermis or innermost layer of the cortex externally.
