L. percrībrāt-, ppl. stem of percrībrā-re to sift thoroughly, f. per- 2 + crībrāre to sift, f. crībrum a sieve, f. root cer-, cr-, of cernere to sift + instrumental suffix -brum.] trans. To pass through or as through a sieve, to sift. So † percriˈbration, passage through or as through a sieve.
