penetration|pɛnɪˈtreɪʃən| [ad. late L. penetrātiōn-em, n. of action from penetrāre to penetrate; cf. F. pénétration (Oresme, 14th c.).] 1. a. The action, or an act, of penetrating or piercing; the passage of anything into or through a body; also, mutual permeation as of two fluids.
