peeny-wally|ˈpiːniːwɔːlɪ| Also peeni(e)wally, peeny(-wauly). [Etym. uncertain; perh. peely-wally infl. by Jamaican dial. peeny small (see also E.D.D.).] A Jamaican name for a firefly, esp. the largest of those found on the island, Pyrophorus plagiophthalmus.
