resorcinol Chem.|rɪˈzɔːsɪnɒl| [f. resorcin + -ol.] A dihydric phenol formerly obtained from galbanum or other resins but now made synthetically, and used as a dye, in the manufacture of phenol-formaldehyde resins, etc.; = resorcin.
