† ˈpardal Obs. Also -ale. [ad. L. pardalis a female panther, a. Gr. πάρδαλις fem. a panther; cf. obs. F. pardalide (Godef.): see pard1.] Another name for the panther or leopard; more commonly identified with the leopard when this was supposed to be distinct from the panther.
