†1. trans. To think too little of, to underestimate.
a1623Buck Rich. III (1646) 52 Charles..was so..over⁓weening of his owne..judgement, that he under-thought all mens else.
2. intr. To think insufficiently.
1711Shaftesbury Charac. III. 301 They might rather thank themselves, for having under-thought, or reason'd short, so as to rest satisfy'd with a very superficial Search.
3. trans. To penetrate under by thinking.
