‖ parapodium Zool.|pærəˈpəʊdɪəm| [mod.L., f. para-1 1 in sense ‘subsidiary’, ‘false’ + Gr. ποδ- foot (cf. Gr. παραπόδιος at the feet).] One of the jointless lateral processes or rudimentary limbs of annelids, which serve as organs of locomotion, and sometimes of sensation or respiration.
