paragonimiasis Med.|ˌpærəgəʊnɪˈmaɪəsɪs| [f. mod.L. Paragonim-us, generic name (f. para-1 + Gr. γόνιµος productive, fertile, f. root γεν-, γον- to produce) + -iasis.] Infestation with worms of the genus Paragonimus, esp. the lung fluke, which results from eating infected crustacea and is marked at first by abdominal pains and later by a persistent cough and expectoration of blood.
