† ˈpantas, ˈpantais ? Obs. Also 6 panties, 7 -asse, -ise, 8 -ess. [a. F. pantais, -ois, from pantoiser, earlier pantaisier, -teisier to pant.] A pulmonary disease of hawks; also applied to the ‘yellows’ in cattle.
