释义 oxo(-), prefix and a. Chem.|ˈɒksəʊ|
[f. oxygen + -o.]
1. As a word-forming element in the names of organic compounds used to denote the presence of a carbonyl group, as in oxodecanoic acid, 3-oxovaleric acid, oxosteroid.
1971Nomencl. Org. Chem. (I.U.P.A.C.) (ed. 3) C. 176 In the presence of a group having priority over carbonyl for citation as principal group, or when all the carbonyl groups cannot be included in the ketone functional class name, the presence of carbonyl-oxygen atoms is indicated by the prefixes ‘oxo-’, ‘dioxo-’, etc.
2. With a hyphen, as quasi-adj. without a hyphen, or joined, as one word, to a n.a. Applied to an oxygen atom linking two other atoms, and to compounds containing such a grouping. Now rare.
1921Jrnl. Chem. Soc. CXIX. 1657 This is the value of the factor for the oxo-linking, {b1}O{b1}.1922Ibid. CXXI. 1811 In the oxo-compound the molecule is in one straight line.1934Jrnl. Amer. Chem. Soc. LVI. 795/1 Ol compounds readily change to oxo compounds upon heating their solutions.1962[see ol].
b. Applied to compounds, ions or groups containing one or more oxygen atoms bonded to another atom (spec. in Org. Chem. indicating the presence of a carbonyl group; cf. 1 above), as oxo acid, oxo anion, oxo group, oxo ion.
1935H. J. Lucas Org. Chem. xxxix. 514 If the oxo group is on the end of a carbon chain, the compound is an aldehyde acid.1958Jrnl. Physiol. CXL. 154 The normal metabolism of the intestinal cells overshadows or compensates for any changes in the oxo acid concentrations in the blood.1959Nomencl. Inorg. Chem. (I.U.P.A.C.) v. 44 Most of the common acids are oxoacids, i.e., they contain only oxygen atoms bound to the characteristic atom.1965Phillips & Williams Inorg. Chem. I. xiv. 523 Oxyacids are sometimes called oxo-acids to stress the fact that they contain XO groups in their structures.1969H. T. Evans tr. Hägg's Gen. & Inorg. Chem. xxi. 500 Charged oxide molecules, that is oxo ions, should also be considered as oxides. The particular descriptions of these..and the corresponding oxo acids, are given under the respective central-atom element.1971Nomencl. Org. Chem. (I.U.P.A.C.) (ed. 3) C. 120 Trivial names for oxo carboxylic acids..may be used for the acyclic component.1972Cotton & Wilkinson Adv. Inorg. Chem. (ed. 3) v. 170 The second main class of acid behavior is shown by compounds with X{b1}OH groups; these are called oxo acids, and generally have a formula of the type HnXOm, for example H3PO4.Ibid. xxi. 639 Many of the most important ligands having oxygen donor atoms are oxo anions, such as NO2-, NO3-, SO42- and ClO4-.Ibid. xiv. 408 Tetrahedral oxo ions such as PO43-, ClO4-, MnO4-.
c. Also OXO, Oxo. Applied to the hydroformylation process or reaction.
1947Chem. & Industry 1 Feb. 73/2 The OXO reaction is one of general applicability to compounds containing the ethylenic double bond.1949R. F. Goldstein Petroleum Chem. Industry x. 187 The Oxo reaction is exothermic, 35k. cal. being liberated per mol of olefin reacted.1966McGraw-Hill Encycl. Sci. & Technol. VI. 543/1 Cobalt catalysts are universally used for the Oxo reaction.1969[see hydroformylation s.v. hydro-].1971Nature 20 Aug. 537/1 Roden..discovered the oxo or hydroformylation reaction which generates aldehydes and alcohols from olefins, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen in the presence of cobalt catalysts.
