1904C. S. Sherrington in Nature 8 Sept. 461 (caption) Proprio-spinal neurones. Ibid. 463/1 We..arrive at the following reflex chain for the scratch reflex: (i.) The receptive neurone... (ii.) The long descending proprio⁓spinal neurone.., from the shoulder segment to the grey matter of leg segments. 1920H. Head Studies in Neurol. II. iii. 504 If these proprio-spinal paths have been destroyed, or their functions abolished, the mass-reflex may appear in its complete form even though some sensation and voluntary movement are still present below the level of the lesion. 1959Brain LXXXII. 614 We have retained the name ‘fasciculi proprii’ for the fibres under review, as there is no suitable English equivalent. Sherrington's name ‘proprio-spinal fibres’..might be suggested. But it seems to us that a name which includes the term ‘spinal’ is undesirable. 1974Exper. Brain Res. XXI. 188 Our results show that long propriospinal fibres stimulated a few segments caudal to the cervical enlargement. |
