Assoc. 20 Nov. 1726/2 It has been possible to reduce the problem to a mere cystoscopic procedure by the evolution of a cutting current capable of operating in a water medium, and a cystoscopic instrument for its application. This instrument is provided with a small movable ring or loop of tungsten wire which, when actuated by a suitable current, is capable of removing longitudinal spaghetti-like sections of tissue... Of these instruments I have named..the latter the resectoscope. 1951M. Campbell Clin. Pediatric Urology i. 74 Miniature resectoscopes are now available for transurethral removal of vesical neck obstruction..uretocele or small intra⁓vesical growths. 1962Lancet 28 Apr. 914/1, I must admit to a certain amount of fear of producing incontinence in using the resectoscope on the female bladder neck, and prefer to use fulguration first, even if resection is necessary later. 1974J. D. Maynard in R. M. Kirk et al. Surgery viii. 180 Provided IVP shows some renal function, treatment [of bladder neck obstruction] consists of posterior bladder neck resection per urethra with a resectoscope. |
