ˈoutstroke [out- 7.] 1. A stroke directed outwards.
1874Knight Dict. Mech. 627/1 On the completion of the stroke, the steam is allowed to pass freely from one side of the piston to the other, producing an equilibrium of effect during the out-stroke. 2. Mining. The act of striking out: see quot. 1893–4. Also attrib. in outstroke-rent.
