ostrei-, ostreo- (also erron. ostrea-, ostra-, ostro-), combining forms of L. ostrea, ostreum, and Gr. ὄστρεον oyster. Hence: ˈostreiform a. [-form], having the form of an oyster or of oysters. ˈostreophage |-feɪdʒ|, ostreophagist |-ˈɒfədʒɪst| [Gr. -ϕάγος eating], one who, or that which, eats or feeds upon oysters; so ostreˈophagous a., eating or feeding on oysters.
