ootocoid, a. and n. Zool.|əʊˈɒtəkɔɪd| [ad. mod.L. Ootocoidea (neut. pl.), f. Gr. ᾠοτόκ-ος laying eggs, oviparous: see -oid.] a. adj. Belonging to the Ootocoidea, a division of mammals in Dana's classification (so called from their affinity to oviparous animals), comprising the marsupials and monotremes (the latter of which have since been found to be actually oviparous). b. n.
