ontologism|ɒnˈtɒlədʒɪz(ə)m| [f. ontologize: see -ism 1.] A form of mysticism, which rests on the principle that ‘the order of intellectual apprehension follows the order of real being’, and thus holds that ‘an immediate cognition of God is essential to the human intellect, so that without this it can have cognition of nothing’ (Cath. Dict.).
