obnounce, v. Rom. Antiq.|ɒbˈnaʊns| [ad. L. obnuntiāre, f. ob- (ob- 1 b) + nuntiāre to tell.] intr. Of a Roman magistrate: To announce an unfavourable omen (and thus prevent, stop, or render void, some public transaction).
