Nile|naɪl| The name of a river in North Africa, used attrib. to designate animals native to the region, as Nile crocodile, the African crocodile, Crocodylus niloticus; cf. crocodile 1; Nile monitor = iguana 2; Nile perch, a large food fish, Lates niloticus, found in the rivers and lakes of north and central Africa.
