nephridium Zool.|nɛˈfrɪdɪəm| Pl. nephridia. [mod.L. (Ray Lankester), ad. Gr. *νεϕρίδιον, dim. of νεϕρ-ός; cf. gonidium, etc.] A primitive excretory organ in the lower invertebrates, analogous in function to the kidney, but also, in some forms of Mollusca, used in reproduction.
