monoptote|ˈmɒnəptəʊt| Also 7–8 -tot. [ad. late L. monoptōt-us, a. late Gr. µονόπτωτ-ος, f. Gr. µόνο-ς mono- + πτωτός falling, cogn. w. πτῶσις case, f. πί-πτ-ειν to fall. So F. monoptote.] A noun occurring in a single oblique case (as L. astu).
