methæmoglobin Chem.|mɛθiːməʊˈgləʊbɪn| [See meta- and hæmoglobin.] A derivative of hæmoglobin obtained by the exposure of an aqueous solution of oxyhæmoglobin to the air; called also methæmoˈglobulin. Hence methæmoglobiˈnemia Path. [Gr. αἷµα blood], presence of methæmoglobin in the blood. methæmoglobiˈnuria Path. [Gr. οὖρον urine], presence of methæmoglobin in the urine.
