[mod.L., a. Gr. µετάβασις, related to µεταβαίνειν to change one's place, f. µετα- meta- + βαίνειν to go. (Cf. basis.)]
A transition, spec. in Rhetoric, from one subject or point to another, in Medicine, from one remedy, etc. to another (= metabola).
