mestranol Pharm.|ˈmɛstrənɒl| [f. methyl + œstradiol + -n- + -ol.] The 3-methyl ether, C21H26O2, of ethinylœstradiol which has actions similar to, but more potent than, those of œstradiol and is used in treating disorders of menstruation, fertility, and pregnancy, and (together with a progestational agent) as a contraceptive.
