1959A. B. Sabin in Science 20 Nov. 1388/1 Studies..have provided the definitive information required for establishing these strains as members of a new group of viruses, for which I am proposing the name ‘reoviruses’. 1970Nature 28 Mar. 1209/1 Vaccinia virus and reovirus assemble their mRNA synthesizing enzymes within the mature virion. 1973R. G. Krueger et al. Introd. Microbiol. xix. 532/1 Three serological types of reovirus have been identified. The structure of the particles..consists of an RNA core some 40 nm in diameter and an icosahedral capsid 30–50 Å in width. No envelope is present. The 92 capsomeres are closely packed and appear as pentagonal or hexagonal columnar prisms (possibly truncated pyramids) arranged in 5:3:2 symmetry. 1979Sci. Amer. Nov. 65/1 In mice..reovirus attacks the acinar cells of the pancreas. |
