marrite Min.|ˈmɑːraɪt| [f. the name of John Edward Marr (1857–1933), British geologist + -ite1.] A sulphide and arsenide of lead and silver, PbAgAsS3, which is found as grey monoclinic crystals in dolomite at Lengenbach, Switzerland.

The name marrite is proposed in honour of Dr. John Edward Marr, F.R.S., of Cambridge. 1967Zeitschr. für Kristallogr. CXXV. 459 Marrite, a rare sulfosalt from the Binnatal, Switzerland, has been shown to have composition PbAgAsS3. The phase is monoclinic, space group P21/a. |
