magnussonite, n. Min. Brit. |ˈmagnəsənʌɪt|, U.S. |ˈmægnəsəˌnaɪt| [‹ the name of Nils H. Magnusson (1890–1976), former director of the Geological Survey of Sweden (see quot. 1957) + -ite suffix1.] A green arsenite of manganese, Mn53+(As3+O3)3(OH,Cl), occurring as fine-grained encrustations in fissures in dolomite and haematite and crystallizing in the cubic system.
