magnesite Min.|ˈmægniːsaɪt| [f. magnes-ia + -ite1.] Carbonate of magnesium, occurring commonly in compact white masses, but occasionally crystalline. Formerly applied also to the hydrous silicate of magnesium (sepiolite or meerschaum).
